Fixing Up a Foundation in Van Alstyne Before Remodeling

If you’ve seen at least a snippet of those HGTV shows where they transform old houses, you know any old, crippled house can be turned into a modern home… Although it will take a lot of work and several contractors to get to the finished product.

As foundation repair professionals, our job is to make sure the other contractors have a good foundation (pun intended), so that they can make improvements on the home without it giving out from underneath.

Our most recent project in Van Alstyne is the beginning of what would be a major home transformation. A home investor purchased an old home, but it had major drainage issues that allowed water under the house where the foundation is. As a result, the wood has degraded and rotted a lot from all those years of getting waterlogged, probably since 1940 when it was built. The tree stumps that held the house were also rotted out.

Modern Solutions for a Foundation in Van Alstyne

Foundations have changed since the ‘40s and we implemented solutions that are more appropriate to current needs and requirements for a home.

We replaced the rotted beams and joists, then replaced the tree stumps with concrete pads and blocks. With these, we were able to lift and level the house.

As we were working, demolition had started inside the house to prepare for remodeling. The work we just did makes everything level and solid for the rest of the contractors that will work on the house.
