Have you taken the time to check how the exterior of your home looks? While it may not seem like a big deal, there are probably a couple of surprises waiting for you.
A few cracks might seem harmless for a while, but it could be a sign of deeper problems like foundation issues. If left unattended, they could become larger and more noticeable. And do you know what gets into cracks? Water. Lots of it. When water and cracks on your exterior combine, it leaves room for moisture damage to destroy your foundation further and cause more financial and repair problems.
Foundation problems can also cause uneven floors, broken tiles as well as misaligned doors and windows. Not only does this ruin the beauty of your home, but it also poses a threat to you, your family, and guests as people may trip, fall, or break an arm.
Taking care of our home means more than the inside—you need to maintain the outside as well. Read on to find out how we helped a homeowner in Allen, Texas do this!
Fixing the Problem Both In and Out in Allen
This week’s customer had been complaining of large separations and gaps around the exterior of their home, as well as some tile and sheetrock damage on the interior. The customer was worried that the damage would continue to get worse and spread, which was terribly stressing them out. Luckily, they called us over to help before the problem could escalate further and cause more damage both to their home and their budget.
Although our PT2 System is very durable, we were beginning to see movement further into the house than the exterior piers we recommended could reach. We would have had to install more piers inside their home, which would have been very messy! To avoid this, we also recommended a root barrier. This will help protect those interior areas as well as the PT2 piers to make them last longer. The combination of both the PT2 System and the root barrier is efficient and long-lasting, helping the homeowner save from future costly repairs.
The homeowner was worried that her landscaping would be destroyed during the installment process, but we were able to work around it and get everything back into place without any problem. Whenever we handle projects, we are very careful not to knock over or hit anything important to our customers.
The project only took us a day from start to finish with our team of five. We had one crew chief and the project manager, who made sure everything started and finished well. With the concrete gaps and floor issues solved, and our client’s landscaping safe as well, she was relieved that they didn’t have to worry about foundation problems anymore. All thanks to our durable, state-of-the-art system!
