There really is no place like home. It is where we can rest our mind, refresh ourselves, eat good food, and forget the world. It is also best if we combine home with nature, as it can have a positive impact on our wellbeing. Nature heals, soothes, restores, and connects—but it also destroys.
This week’s featured project is about a homeowner who took a proactive step to prevent a forthcoming disaster and inconvenience with our help.
Repairing an Unstable Home in Murphy, Texas

A customer from Murphy, Texas had noticed an expansion joint in their home was opening up.

Plus, a couple other cracks had started to appear around the garage. During the inspection, it was discovered that the garage was starting to sink much lower compared to the rest of the house.

The most likely cause of the problem was the large tree in front of their garage. The homeowner was an engineer himself who had a lot of specific questions. He actually compared a lot of companies and systems before he decided to go with us!
A tree can give extra shade and beauty to the landscape of your home. But its roots are a force to be reckoned with as they can pose a significant threat to your home’s foundation. Tree roots are very powerful because they are driven to find more sources of water and nutrients. As they grow and expand until they can affect the soil beneath your home, potentially damaging the structural integrity of the soil. Changes in soil condition is what actually causes more damage to home foundations which often manifests in the form of concrete settling.

One way to address this issue is to install steel rebar reinforced concrete pressed piling piers. Our team pushed eight piers from our PT2 system deep into the soil around the perimeter of their garage.

Two of the piers required that concrete be cut out and patched. Once these dry up and as time passes by, the color will match the rest of the driveway.

This project took one day to complete. With the linear barrier in place and foundation beams beefed up, the homeowner can now enjoy their home without a worry.
