It most likely holds a lot of value, if only sentimental. This past week, we came across this home in Whitewright, which was built in 1910. Being extremely old, it was heavily affected by the ice storm that occurred at the beginning of the year.
We can’t control the weather, but we can do something about the plumbing leak that it brought about to this home.
New Foundation Beams and Concrete Blocks Under a Whitewright Home
When we came to the house, it was still very muddy under the house. One side of the foundation needed to be lifted, so we installed 2 new wood beams.
You could still see how old the house is from the tree stumps in the foundation. We replaced some with new concrete pads and blocks – a modern solution for this age-old home. With these in place, we were able to lift the foundation back into place and also level the floors.
Since there’s still a lot of moisture underneath the house, the homeowner will also need to install vents to dry it out and house skirting to turn the house back to its old appealing look. The next steps for prevention would be to install gutters all around the house to prevent water from getting under and waterlogging the foundation.
