McKinney Homeowner Needs Help with Foundation Problems
A McKinney homeowner had recently installed new tiles in their living room and kitchen at the back of their house. After all their efforts, it was disappointing to see a new crack that had formed in one of the brand new tiles. They were very careful during installation, so what could have possibly gone wrong? There was definitely something bad going on, so the worried homeowner reached out to us as they suspected foundation problems.

Our team of five foundation repair specialists came over and inspected the area. We took elevation measurements across the slab and identified deflection towards a certain corner of their home. After taking a closer look, we were able to determine that the back right corner of their house’s foundation was failing. The most probable cause were the three large trees that were located too close to the problem area.

Tree roots can encroach on the subsoil beneath your home’s foundation, causing it to shrink as they extract moisture from the soil. To address the issue and lift their home back to its proper place, we installed six of our PT2 piers around the back right corner of the house. Our team placed the piers along the span of the perimeter beam that was the lowest in the elevation measurements using a spacing of six to eight feet. This system cost-effectively lifts and stabilizes your foundation using high compression strength concrete that is rated higher than even your slab foundation.

During the installation, the homeowner was very worried about their back porch. It was brand new, so he did not want it to get damaged when we cut into it and lifted the house. We were very careful with our work, so the house was lifted fine without damaging their new porch. The crew even took their time with the concrete breakouts we had to do by saw-cutting the patches to have smooth lines. After a few days, the new concrete will be much whiter and brighter in color and will match their porch’s existing concrete much more closely.

After completing the project in just half a day, they even thanked us for placing some extra fill dirt to the right side of the house where there was a lot of erosion occurring.
