You need to consider plenty of things when you move into your new house. You need to unpack all of your belongings and figure out what is going where. Maybe you would have to childproof or petproof your home. Another thing to worry about is making sure your utilities are all set up and figuring out where the water valve and fuse box are. Plus, you’d have to do a deep clean from top to bottom before you can move on to the fun part—meeting your new neighbors.
Moving into your new home can be very exciting. You might get overwhelmed and forget one thing—checking if there are any repairs that need to be made. If your house was previously owned, it’s highly likely that there are a few repair projects you would need to take care of. You might not need to repair them right away, but it’s always better to take note of what needs to be done and decide on what you need to prioritize.
For this week’s featured project, our client that had just moved into their home noticed something alarming. Find out what it is by reading on!
Installing Our PT2 System to Address House Cracks
Our client had recently moved into their new home in McKinney, Texas. Soon after moving in, they had noticed cracks popping up! These unsightly cracks were definitely a cause for concern, and the homeowner had made the right decision of calling our team at PermaTech Foundation Repair. It was lucky that they did, as it turned out to be more than a cosmetic problem. A foundation problem was starting!
The large tree that was way too close to the front of their house and their garage was the most likely cause. As we’ve mentioned in previous blog posts, trees can cause the foundation to detach and shrink from moisture loss. We gave the homeowner different solutions that could address the issue. They could either focus on the maintenance issues that had appeared, or install piers that would secure the house’s foundation for a much longer period of time. Our client did not want to risk the stability of their home and the safety of their family, so they decided to get piers installed.
Our team installed 15 of our PT2 piers around the front right corner of the house and the perimeter of their garage.
These piers were driven down to the restrictive clay layer underneath the foundation in order to support our client’s house above it better.
The installation only took us one day to complete.
After 90 days, we will perform our complimentary post-install inspection. During this inspection, we will check what we installed to make sure everything is holding up. We also make use of this visit to educate homeowners on the proper techniques of maintaining their foundation. The homeowner said they will wait for our re-inspection before deciding whether or not they will get root barriers for additional prevention of future foundation issues.
Now that their foundation problems are taken care of, our client can sit back and celebrate their new home.
