Buying a new house is only the beginning of your home-related expenses. Deciding to become a homeowner means thinking years ahead. And we’re not just talking about the years of paying mortgage, we’re talking about other costs of home ownership, which include maintenance expenses. On average, a new house will need repair around 15 years later.
True to the norm, the home we just wrapped up work in in Cedar Hill is 16 years old. The homeowner called us for the massive crack appearing on one wall of their home, which turned out to be a foundation problem.
Installing PT2 Piers for a 16-Year-Old Home in Cedar Hill
Upon inspection, we found out that the foundation on the front and back corners of the left side of the house were settling deep into the ground. The front and back walls were starting to lean outward, which caused a huge crack in the expansion joint in the middle of the left wall.
We needed to lift the 2 corners of the foundation back into place to resolve the issue. And to do that, we installed 10 concrete piers, or what we call our PT2 piers.
We put 5 in each corner, front and back, to lift the 2 sides and close the crack.
With plenty of experience, our crew was able to finish the installation in a matter of 3 days.
